Self -Expression

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

Art is a powerful tool for self-exploration and expression. When students feel safe and supported in their creative environment, they immerse themselves in the process of self-discovery and honest vulnerability. In my art room, I nurture a growth mindset approach to art-making and establish a classroom culture that honors each individual’s process and needs. Students can then lean into their vulnerability and feel comfortable expressing their struggles, curiosities, and self-discoveries.

“Identity” is a theme that can grow year after year, building in depth and understanding. From the abstract to the literal, from self portraits to expressionism, there are so many mediums and methods to inspire students on this journey of self-discovery!
